
These were introduced at the same time as the Les Paul in 1959, but featured an outrageous shape and design compared to the other guitars offered at the time. They were much lighter than the Les Paul, constructed of Korina wood and would definitely turn heads. The only drawback was the fact they were almost impossible to play sitting down, but who cares? They were cool as hell and wouldn't wear you down like their heavier cousins, and carried the pickups to give you a similar tone without the frills.
