Once upon a time, before there were DVD's, video tapes or even color TV, there was a product that allowed you to view various subjects in wonderful 3-D and color. The GAF Viewmaster was introduced in the late 1930's as an updated version of stereoscopes that let you take a piece of plastic and a round card with sets of photos and turn it into something somewhat surreal. These would give you a stereo image with depth and made it possible to view landscapes, famous landmarks, motion picture subjects, etc. anytime you wanted to. Sure they were limited in their appeal to kids, but if you lived in a home with either no color television or NO TV SET (the horror!!!) you were quite happy with the results. If you want to experience the effect yourself (it's like 3-D without the headache), these are still available if you look. See ya, and be sure to check back for more Cool Old Junk...
