
Back as the muscle car era was nearing it's peak, Chevy outdid itself with the issue of this SS or "Super Sport" version of the popular Chevelle that if you picked the right option, featured a 396 power plant which created another classic for the world of muscle cars. These beauties featured the 396 big block motor that pushed 350 horsepower which was impressive enough, but once they were paired with a 4 speed Muncie transmission and the cool detailing of the SS package, you couldn't help but turn heads. Sure, they weren't exactly fuel efficient, but who cares? At the time these originally hit the streets, you could afford to fill the tank after winding it up a bit. When Chevy let these loose from the factory, they didn't intend them to be your grandparents sedan, but a powerhouse to keep up with the rest of motor city.
