
These crunchy treats were introduced by Atkinson Candy in the 1930's and were made by mixing a combination of crushed peanuts, coconut and of course, sugar into sticks that kind of resembled pretzel sticks. These have a flavor all their own, and were supposedly named after the fact they carry a color and the shape of a chicken's leg. They are sweet and crunchy, and because of the fact they have a peanut dusted coating, didn't stick to your hands when you ate them (a bonus for parents, but not much fun if you were a naturally messy kid like me).
